The most recent tax season results will be reported on here in the near future. What follows are last year's results.

Providing free income tax preparation assistance, from mid-January to April 17, 2006, the Prosperity Campaign of Hillsborough & Pinellas Counties’ 400 volunteers and staff in 63 locations throughout Hillsborough and Pinellas counties prepared 16,434 tax returns, with refunds totaling $14.8 million.

• AARP Tax-Aide Foundation (45)
• The Benefit Bank© (9)
• Volunteer Income Tax Assistance-VITA (9)

16,434 tax returns prepared, including:

• 3,082 households claiming EITC, a 30.76 percent increase over 2004
• 1,515 households claiming the Child Tax Credit, a 15.65 percent increase over 2004

Prosperity Campaign clients claimed $14.8 million in total tax refunds, a 37.97 percent increase over 2004.

• $3.98 million in EITC
• $1.56 million in Child Tax Credit

In total, Prosperity Campaign clients saved approximately $2.46 million in commercial tax preparation fees by using the free tax preparation service.
